Robert Southworth

I come from a sleepy little town in the centre of England, called Nuneaton. I have spent most of life there apart from  a few years. At that time i lived just a few miles away from London. I am essentially a family man, one of the reasons i enjoy writing as a career is that i can spend quality time with my wife and children.

Before I became an author I had tried my hands at many professions. For a brief time i was in the army, serving in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. Then I tried my hand at engineering and finally retail management. In truth, I enjoyed retail management and proved to be rather successful however, recession struck England, and the world for that matter,  redundancy sadly became part of many  family homes.

The emotional upheaval that could have been caused by redundancy was avoided due to my wife, Linda simply sitting me down and asking me, what i wanted to do. It was madness, me a writer, a working class lad from a family that had bathed in the coal dust of the midlands for over a century. Nonetheless, a writer is what I had always wanted to do (well apart from when I was a kid, then I wanted to be John Wayne). So the first step was taken, it has not been an easy  journey but I wouldn't have changed my experience for the world. I have been traditionally published and now have the confidence to publish my own works.

I currently have five novels completed, the last of which is called 'The Reaper's Breath', which is the first novel in a series of three.  The book is set in Victorian London, and centres on the infamous Jack the Ripper.
